Its pretty good. Hadn't used the MP3 player much though - thanks for sharing your experience, I'll check that out now. I use the camera a lot, and the photos are decent. I have some of them up on my Flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vram Another good point about the Zire is the Documents to Go software - allows you to read / write Office Docs - Word and Excel - on the Zire, and up/download them between it and a PC. A PDF viewer is also built in. Have you tried the video feature? I bought a Zire 71 with 16 MB (from the US, so good volume) and then a year later, a Zire 72 with 32 MB. Its pretty good. One of the few writers who has thoughts worth sharing, unlike many so-called technology writers who seem to use their writing more as a medium to display their (lack of real?) language skills, or, worse, write stuff like "India has the 3rd largest scientific and technical manpower in the world" (that one is an old chestnut) ... gotta say that our output doesn't match that statistic - not by a long chalk. Comment on IT Slowdown in India by Harish Karakat http://comversations.com/2006/03/20/it-slowdown-in-india/#comment-10 Thu, 11 May 2006 14:08:41 +0000 http://comversations.com/2006/03/20/it-slowdown-in-india/#comment-10 Nice to read this article. I have also often expressed the same to my friends who are working in the IT labor industry. Whenever we discuss of having a startup, the guys come up so quickly with outsourcing projects. That pisses me off. Hey guys, don't you wanna do some cool stuff, something original like a product. Even if in the service industry, do something for your own country. Relying too much on other countries ..hmmh. Most service companies so called Hi-Tech, boast of the increase in the number of employees per year. I have watched them so closely now, They are only agents who sell resumes at a lower hourly price. Thats nothing more than offering Cheap Labor. Why do you boast of Hi-Tech Indian IT industry ? How many IT product companies does India have ? Nice to read this article. I have also often expressed the same to my friends who are working in the IT labor industry. Comment on Linux Compatible Equipment by sumeet singh http://comversations.com/2006/03/20/linux-compatible-equipment/#comment-8 Sat, 22 Apr 2006 15:04:04 +0000 http://comversations.com/2006/03/20/linux-compatible-equipment/#comment-8 In my experience many equipments that do show positive search results with http://www.google.com/search?q=linux+"item_of_interest" query still cause trouble. I had similar issues with accessories for my laptop such as network card, bluetooth adaptor etc.. I think its high time Linux community (or industry) starts standardizing drivers or config files. While on one hand, flexibility and personalisation is the key, many novice and entry-level users are just put off because each config file needs to be re-written or compiled on their machine.
